The mission of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Band Partners
(SWPABP) is to promote community instrumental music in the southwestern
Pennsylvania region. This region includes Armstrong, Allegheny,
Butler, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence,
Indiana, Washington, Westmoreland Counties. In order
to promote community music in the region we need to be a resource for
the musical groups and their musicians and the general public.
We would like to promote and facilitate joint ventures between
groups. This can be achieved via communication between groups as
a result of the contact list or electronic mailing list, SWPABP sponsored concerts, and other brainstorming activities.
We will also:
- have a
quarterly newsletter to highlight and promote community music in the region
- maintain a combined calendar of concerts of the
community bands
- maintain this web site with links to the newsletter, calendar, band directory, and other useful links
- be a facilitator for brainstorming ideas for these groups to work together in some way
- promote or sponsor joint
concerts or a band festival
- get suggestions from
bands/musicians/general public and try to act on them
